RECOMMENDED-My Top 5 beauty items of the moment!

24 Oct

Hey girlies!!

How are you all?? i’ve been feeling a bit blah recently and one thing that always makes me feel better is make-up! lol wow that sounds shallow!? but honestly when nothing else is doing the trick (not even the chocolate) make-up makes me feel better. i think make up can make any girl feel a million dollars and it can be so much fun! 😀 don’t be scared of it, if something goes wrong just wipe it off and try again!

here are my top 5 fave products of the moment:-

  1.  Shu Umera eyelash curlers – most of you will have heard of them. they’re pretty expensive but i’ve had mine for years and they still work just as well as the day i bought them. they make your eyelashes look longer and your eyes look more wide awake. i use them even when im not wearing make up. would definately recommend you invest in them! i even think its great for guys! they’re my best beauty buy!
  2. Body Shop Lip Butter – if you know me you’ll know my obsession with lip stuff! at any given moment i will have at least 6 different lip products in my handbag! be it lipstick, lip gloss or lip balm! i have a huge range of lip balms but the one i couldn’t live without is the Body Shop lip butter. my lips get super dry especially with the strange weather we’ve been having. i like to slather it on before i sleep or use it to remove dry skin by rubbing it with a cotton bud or after ive exfoliated my lips using it to soothe and moisturise them and even when they’re feeling chapped. i love how it melts on your lips and doesn’t feel too waxy or too sticky. and the best thing is it tastes yummy! 😀
  3. Sleek Contour kit – this literally changed the way i do my make-up. i learnt ahow to sculpt and contour on my beauty course but i never used the method on myself. I had always highlighted but never contoured. i thought it was just for occasions and probably because the colours i had werent the most natural or flattering for my skin tone. and as i’m naturally have tanned colour skin, i don’t want to look  bronzed on a daily basis, unless its summer or i’m on holiday! but the contour kit doesn’t make it look as though im any darker, it just puts shadows where i want them. the colour blends so well and on those days when im feeling fat faced and needing an extra boost its fabulous! it literally erases double chins and gives you that sucked in cheeks look that makes your cheekbones pop! and best of all its affordable! (if you’d like me to do a post on contouring and highlighting let me know)
  4. Sleek Eyeshadow palette – my favourite is ‘avoir le peche’ – we all know sleek palettes are pretty amazing (minus the fallout!) but this palette is my fave! i bought it quite a few months back and i don’t know if it’s still available anywhere. they have some fab ones out at the moment and the shades are all available in different palettes! i love the ash brown for my eyebrows. i never used to fill my eyebrows as ive always naturally had pretty full brows. but this eyeshadow fills them without altering the colour. it looks really natural and ever since ive been using it, i’ve had so many compliments on my eyebrows! i also love all the orange/peach/pink/coral tones in it. they got used loads in spring/summer and i even used them on my cheeks as blusher!
  5. Mac 266 brush – it was the first Mac brush i ever bought (a long time ago) and it was a great investment! ive used it nearly every time i’ve done my eyeliner.  i used to be rubbish at doing eyeliner but with this brush it feels like it does most the work for you! however, if you like a very thin line then this isn’t the brush for you. Having good quality make-up brushes is more important than having good quality make-up. with make-up even cheaper brands do great quality products in lots of colours and textures. but if the brush isn’t right you’re not going to get the finish you’re going for.  they don’t have to be mac or even that expensive. i got some great quality brushes recently from Costco! they’re not as good as Mac obviously but they’re still fab, they’re by a brand called Borghese and suuper cheap. Sigma also do great make-up bushes, nearly as good as Mac but less expensive so if you’re looking to invest and don’t want to spend as much, id definately go for sigma. just google them for stockists.

hope that helps you girls! 🙂 let me know if there’s anything you’d recommend for me??

take care..

p.s. who went on the 50% off ASOS yesterday?? i did and what a disappointment! none of the dresses i liked had gone on the sale and there was only 90 party dresses! had a feeling it was too good to be true 😦 but oh well..

My Top 5 YouTubers!

20 Sep

hey girlies!!

so recently i’ve really got into the whole YouTube craze! there’s been nothing on the tele!! lol! 90210, glee and gossip girl seasons have started now tho.. excited! anyway back to the topic.. seriously, i’ve learnt so much. there are some great YouTube ‘gurus’  and there’s also some totally rubbish 1s! (what’s with all the teenagers trying to teach you how to put make-up on when they don’t have a clue!? i can’t believe some of them are so popular!) anyway the really great 1s  can inspire and teach you loads. honestly, people are always asking me about certain ways i’ve done my hair or make-up and my secret is YouTube! oh and BOYS  (i know there’s some of you reading this..) scroll down to number 4.. there’s a bit for you too!

My taste in makeup/fashion probably is not to everyones taste. i like to be quite quirky and like to experiment with both. i believe everyone is beautiful (however corny that sounds lol!) and make-up is there to enhance that natural beauty and not mask it. sometimes girls are so beautiful but u can’t tell because the natural part gets hidden which is such a shame. i think however trendy or colourful make-up is, you can still look effortless. it’s so much ‘cooler’!’

that’s why my first favourite is:

  1. Lisa Eldridge i love how she uses foundation to even out skin tone rather than cover it. that’s wat concealer is there for girls!! Lisa Eldridge is a professional make-up artist to the stars. she does make-up for magazine shoots and also makes videos for chanel on their website. i love her style and admire all her work. i wish i was half as talented.  i don’t need to say much as Lisa’s channel speaks for itself. even if you don’t watch any of the other YouTube channels (if you haven’t done so already) i’d urge you to watch hers! highly highly recommended!
  2. next is Goss Makeupartist. he’s a male make-up artist and i think the amazing thing that brings, is his unique way of thinking. he thinks outside the box. i’ve learnt some great tips and tricks from his quick videos. although many things contradict with things other make-up artists say and what i have been taught, its great to see a different perspective and give  them a try.
  3. moving away from make-up my next fave is LuxyHair. they’re two sisters from canada. i used to be rubbish at hair and never experimented till i started to watch their videos. they explain things really easily even for me! my hair look is usually messy and volumised but again i like it to look more effortless so adapt the styles to suit me. for a few of the mendhi’s i went to in the summer i did a rope braid and entwined a chain through. i got the idea from them, its soo easy n a change to the usual side plait. this eid just gone i did the 5 strand braid. and for all my relatives who asked me how i did it – luxy hair is defo my secret! SShhhh 😉
  4. hmmm there’s so many channels i love.. so im gunna cheat a lil and tell you about a YouTube family and pretend they count as 1! 😛  i think the whole family is fab! i’ll start with PIXIWOO. They’re two extremely talented sisters who are professional make-up artists. Pixiwoo were actually one of the first channels i subscribed to, they’re now the youtube version of A list celebs! then there is  J1MMYB0BBA their brother. <<<<< this is the one for the GUYS! whether it be the guy reading this or ur significant other, brother etc? don’t ask me why i watch it.. i have no idea, his videos always just look so interesting! Jims great ‘cos hes a proper guy! u wont feel like ur any less manly for watching it boys-trust me! lol! 😛  he talks about alsorts from shaving to fitness and eye creams, skincare, and hair products. its the stuff most guys are interested in or want to know about but tend to ignore. im always telling my little brother about stuff i learn from watching his videos and surprisingly he actually seems interested! guys, start looking after ur skin or u’ll regret it later! finally there is Jims girlfriend PIXI2WOO. she’s very down to earth and girl next door. i love her reviews of products and she does lotsa fab celebrity inspired looks.
  5. finally fashion related! i love Amenakin. she does amazing hijab tutorials,  and is a talented business women with her own very succesful online shopping website. i don’t wear a hijab regularly but when i do, i love getting ideas from her videos. shes very inspiring. also check out these girls with great style. honestly teenagers are so fashion forward these days! i thought i was fashion forward back then but thinking back, i really had no idea! lol and im pretty sure most people in our 20’s were like that! so here they are ThePersianBabe, ClothesEncounters, beautycrush.

i really do hope you find them interesting and helpful. ooo and a couple more i have to squeeeze in are hudaheidik and AModelRecommends i love their beauty related videos. soo sorry i didn’t keep tothe  top 5 title! those are my top 5 but i also think the others are great and really wanted to share them all with you!

hope ur all well and get inspired by these videos. who are your faves? and what do u think of mine? would love to hear from you so make sure you subscribe and leave feedback! let me know if you have any problems with any of the links etc, hopefully you shouldn’t but im new to all this so bare with me plz!

keep smiling 🙂
